Tuning In offers intermediate students a unique opportunity to explore different genres of listening from a variety of real-world sources. Authentic listening selections, which include commercials, popular songs, oral histories and interactive radio programs, provide a rich context for the development of language skills. The participation of listening segments allows the student to explore eternal themes such as love, volunteering and childhood memories. Pre-listening activities help students focus on the subject and vocabulary, while post-hearing exercises provide practice with language functions, pronunciation, grammar and critical thinking. Listening to inference activities encourages students to infer the speaker´s meaning, listen to attitudes and feelings through the tone of voice and interpret the context.
